1. Purpose and Scope of Use

The primary purpose of this platform is to facilitate academic research on the migration rhythms and life trajectories of the North Korean diasporas, particularly New Malden in the UK and Dongbei in China. Consequently, the website is intended solely for research participants, stakeholders, and interested academics. You agree to use this site only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of, or restrict the use of this site by, any third party.

2. Participation and User Accounts

To participate in specific research activities, such as Digital Journaling and Photovoice, you may be required to register for a secure account. In doing so, you must provide accurate and current information. Furthermore, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account details. Should you suspect any unauthorised use of your account, you must notify the research team immediately to ensure the continued security of the research environment.

3. Intellectual Property and Content Submission

In the course of the research, you may submit original content, including text-based journals and photographs. By uploading such materials, you grant the Becoming Bridge Citizens project a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use this data for academic analysis, publication, and dissemination (inc, campaigns for the protection of human rights of North Korean diasporans), provided that your anonymity is strictly maintained.

However, it is essential that you only upload content for which you own the rights. Specifically, when participating in the Photovoice activity, you must ensure that your images do not infringe upon the privacy or intellectual property of others. Accordingly, the project reserves the right to remove any content that is deemed inappropriate, offensive, or in breach of ethical guidelines.

4. Disclaimer of Liability

While we strive to ensure that the information on this website is accurate and up to date, we provide the platform on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free. In addition, while we implement rigorous security measures to protect your data, we shall not be held liable for any loss or damage arising from technical issues beyond our reasonable control.

As this research project evolves, we may find it necessary to revise these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Any such changes will be posted on this page, and your continued use of the site following the posting of changes will constitute your acceptance of the revised terms. These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of South Korea, while also respecting the international ethical standards and data protection regulations relevant to our participants in the UK and beyond. Any disputes arising in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant academic and legal authorities.
